One Direction's NZ tour sold out in minutes
UK pop sensations One Direction's New Zealand tour sold out within ten minutes this morning.
Eager fans bought more than 1,000 tickets a minute for the band's three shows in Auckland and Wellington in April.
Due to the overwhelming demand, a second Auckland show was added, with tickets going on sale immediately and also selling out.
More than 10,000 tickets were sold in total.
The one-time X Factor UK stars hit the big time with their singles What Makes You Beautiful and One Thing, and have amassed more than 2.65 million fans on Facebook.
Recently, during a radio appearance in Canada, the five band members were inundated by 17,000 calls by fans trying to be part of the in-studio audience. An entire street had to be closed because of fans desperate to catch a glimpse of the teen heart-throbs.
The group's record label, Sony Music, say it is hopeful One Direction will be back in New Zealand for a wider tour. Fans can sign up to a waiting list for tickets to this possible tour at Ticketek.
